IAP schedule vs the government schedule

The Government of India schedule (aligned with WHO's Universal Immunization Programme) covers the essential vaccines free of cost - BCG, OPV, Pentavalent, Rotavirus, PCV, MR/MMR, and boosters. The IAP schedule includes all of these and additionally recommends vaccines such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Varicella (chickenpox) and HPV. At the first visit Dr. Reddy walks you through which vaccines are essential and which are optional, so you are choosing with a clear picture rather than a leaflet.

What to expect at a vaccination visit

• Every visit is with Dr. Reddy directly - DNB Pediatrics, IDPCCM (Pediatric Intensivist) - not a rotating roster.
• All vaccines are stored under a maintained cold chain and checked before administration.
• Each dose is recorded on a vaccination card with the date given and the next dose due - the record schools ask for at admission.
• If your child is behind, a personalised catch-up schedule is worked out - late almost never means starting over.
• Time to talk through common post-vaccination reactions (mild fever, soreness) and when they are worth a call.
